Our Current Policies and Procedures

Although our office has always maintained the strictest infection control standards, in the interest of protecting our patients, staff and community during this time of ongoing concern of Covid 19 virus transmission, Coxwell Dental Health Centre has instituted the following policies and procedures until further notice. 

Patient Protocols

  • We can see patients by appointment only, no walk-ins are accepted.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that fewer options to schedule an appointment are offered, but the benefit will be a reduction in the number of patients in the reception area and the office at any one time. 
  • To confirm your current health status our office will communicate with you before your appointment and ask some screening questions, or the questions can be filled out under "forms" on this website. When you arrive at the office you will be asked the same questions again, as well as have your temperature taken.
  • To minimize the number of people in the reception area we ask that patients enter the office unaccompanied for their appointment, unless the patient is a minor in which case one caregiver wearing a mask is acceptable, and ask that patients arrive no earlier than 5 to 10 minutes before the appointed time. 
  • Upon entering the office you must be wearing a mask, and proceed to sanitize your hands with the sanitizer supplied, or your own if preferred. We also ask that you bring your own sunglasses for personal eye protection during your appointment. 
  • Our waiting room will have only minimal seating available to allow for physical distancing, and will no longer offer magazines and children's toys, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect. 
  • We will ask patients to rinse with an antiviral solution prior to commencing treatment to help minimize the likelihood to exposure to any viruses or bacteria.
  • We will ask patients to avoid congregating around the reception desk area allowing for only one patient to be served at a time. 
Office Protocols
  • All dental staff are screened for any medical concerns prior to the start of each day.
  • All dental staff are kept informed of any developments with regards to updated sterilization procedures or protective wear recommendations. 
  • All staff will be utilising enhanced personal protective equipment including, barriers and masks at the reception desk, and masks, gowns, caps and visors, depending on the procedure, in the treatment areas. 
  • All touch areas/surfaces are regularly cleaned and disinfected. 
  • To minimize concerns regarding air quality the entire office has been assessed by an HVAC engineer resulting in placement of HEPA air filtration units throughout the office. 
  • Other whole office treatments include the regular use of a "fogger" which utilizes an effective non toxic disinfectant solution, (Environize,, to provide further assurance of a virus free dental office environment.
  • Treatment rooms in particular, in addition to regular betwen appointment cleaning and disinfection procedures, now have plastic entranceway barriers, additional evacuation lines and "Surgically Clean Air", ( ), HEPA air filtration units to help maintain the best possible air quality.
